What does BCEFT do?

The Brisbane Centre for Emotionally Focused Therapy (BCEFT – formerly ACEFT) is passionate about sharing Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) with Australia and the world. BCEFT shares information about Dr Sue Johnson’s Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). We provide ICEEFT endorsed training in EFT for therapists, great relationship-enhancement resources, and we help to connect people with an EFT therapist via our therapist directory.

EFT therapist training pathways

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is an effective and evidence-based form of therapy stemming from attachment science and the power of emotion. It focuses on tuning into the wisdom embedded in our most primary emotions to guide our direction in life and on creating secure bonds with the people most important to us.

  • EFT for couples & relationships

Like thousands of therapists around the world, come and discover the power of the EFT model in creating secure attachment in loving bonds. Viewing romantic love through the attachment lens, you will experience how EFCT creates moments of change and growth at the relational and individual level.

This experiential, attachment-based model prioritises emotions and shapes corrective emotional experiences that restructure the attachment bond. Witnessing change happen before your eyes is truly inspirational.

  • EFT for individuals

Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT) is a groundbreaking therapeutic model that facilitates emotional processing and the creation of secure relationships with self and others.

Focusing on the primacy of emotion and the creation of a safe haven and secure base alliance, EFIT conceptualises health and dysfunction from an attachment perspective, identifying cycles of emotion regulation “within” and cycles of interpersonal relating “between.” Therapeutic change is experiential and revises working models of self and other.

  • EFT for families

EFT for families (EFFT) is a transformative approach that is foundational in helping parents and children who are struggling with remaining securely attached. EFFT guides families to resolve relationship blocks and promotes the development of secure familial bonds.

EFFT concentrates on specific practices for working through negative familial patterns by accessing and deepening emotional experience to promote corrective emotional experiences in family relationships.
